T.V.D.A. Competition Company Dance Team
In January 1992, the Oceanside Dance Academy began a dedicated polishing of its newly formed Company. With the help of supportive parents and dedicated teachers, the Company was given specialized professional training during special company hours. The dancers are selected (ages ranging from 5 through 20 years) because they have exhibited outstanding talent, focus and follow-through, a positive attitude, discipline and a strong desire to excel in dance performance.
The Company certainly attracted attention at regional and national competitions such as Spotlight, Star System, Hall of Fame, Showstoppers, Tremaine, Star-bound, and West Coast Dance Explosion. LA Underground and the University of Arizona Jazz Showcase. The Company’s fabulous performances have earned them multiple Platinum and Overall Awards, as well as several Best of Show Awards, Most Entertaining Awards, Top Choreography Awards, Regional Champion Highest Points Awards (in both Junior and Senior divisions!), and several cash prizes. The Company was very proud to be counted among the best dance teams in Southern California, and earned a great deal of respect from their impressed peers who constantly asked them, “Which school do you dance at?”
Several current and former Company dancers have used their talent, confidence, and poise as beauty pageant contestants. Their grace and elegance has helped them to win several titles, including Miss Teen California, Miss Teen Southern California, Miss City of Orange and 3rd Runner-Up Miss California.
The Company’s excellent pre-professional training has resulted in several of the dancers teaching for city recreation departments, high schools, colleges, and private studios. Some have performed professionally on Broadway, in Las Vegas, Disneyland, and on major cruise lines; locally, at the Starlight Theater, Moonlight Amphitheater. Many have been accepted into and received scholarships for dance, musical theater and dance physical therapy programs at leading universities, such as New York University, the Universities of California at Irvine, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Diego, as well as many private colleges throughout the United States.
